Paid Summer Research Opportunity:  Bennett Place Summer 2023 Research Project

Project Overview:  Jointly sponsored by Duke’s Information Sciences+ Studies program, the Duke Library, and the Office of the Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies, the Bennett Place Summer 2023 Research Project seeks to deepen historic knowledge about the Bennett farm and the surrounding neighborhood.  Beginning with the era of Indigenous peoples to the present, the site has been used for hunting, agriculture, and, more recently, as a memorial.  By examining Bennett Place within the context of social, gender, and racial networks, the project aims to create new historical knowledge about North Carolina’s Piedmont region and present that information in innovative ways using public-facing digital tools.
