Collaborative, interdisciplinary, project-based learning is a core component of the ISS program. We offer many opportunities for faculty, staff, and students with a variety of skill sets and experiences to come together in our projects. Some start out as ISS course projects, while others arise out of faculty research interests. We have a few recurring themes such as mapping, games, visualization, immersive virtual worlds, and social media, and are beginning to explore augmented reality systems with mobile devices, aerial mapping, and rich media mapping. We are interested in these new media both from hands-on and technical perspectives, as graphic and information design challenges, and their cultural and social impacts.
We encourage you to contact us if you would like to contribute, or if you have an idea for a project we haven't considered yet!
